FAQs

Q: If I join today, does my price go up next year?
A: No. You join at $25 and your rate stays $25 every year you stay a member. Memberships that start on or after August 1 renew at $39. If you cancel and come back later, you rejoin at whatever the rate is then.

Q: What happens on August 1? 
A: The price goes from $25 to $39 a year, about $3 a month. Nothing about the membership itself changes that day, and the only thing that changes is what a new member pays. Joining before Friday at midnight locks you in at $25.

Q: What do I get for $25/year? 
A: The Winning Hand App, which is five games in one:

Q: What if I join and it's not for me?
A: We'll refund you. Email us at hello@americanmahjonggassociation.com and we'll give it back, no questions and no forms to fill out.

Q: Does it renew automatically? 
A: Yes, once a year, at the rate you joined at. You can cancel any time before your renewal date, and a note to hello@americanmahjonggassociation.com is all it takes.

Q: Is this a phone app?
A: The Winning Hand App is web-based right now, so it plays best on an iPad or a computer. There's nothing to download and nothing to install. You click one link, enter the email you joined with, and you're in.

Q: When can I play this on my phone?
A: We're building the phone version now and it could take up to 30 days to get it right. You don't have to wait for it to join, and the rate you join at today is the rate you keep when it lands.

Q: Can I play against my friends?
A: Not yet. Right now you play against the bots, more than 60 of them, each with its own name and its own way of playing, and you pick casual or challenging before the game starts. Playing against other people is something we're building, and it isn't in the app today.

Q: Why did I get this email? I'm already a member.
A: This message went to email addresses that aren't tied to a membership, and if you read The Mah Jongg Insider at more than one address, it's possible this reached you at the wrong one.
