How I Use Claude to Fix Shopify SEO

My 7-Step AI audit process to spot what's broken and what to fix first.

Want top-quality SEO content written to attract more customers? Schedule a call with me to discuss how my team and I at TrioSEO can help make it a reality.

Hey hey!

Connor here again with another SEO hack.

Most ecommerce founders don't find out their SEO is broken until they're already 12 months behind.

By then, competitors have taken the rankings, and you're playing catch-up on keywords you should've owned a year ago.

I've been there. And I've found a faster way to diagnose it.

Here's how to use Claude to audit a Shopify store's SEO:

Would you rather have me run this audit for you?

My team and I at TrioSEO do this for ecommerce clients every week. We build SEO funnels designed to convert from Google and ChatGPT.

Step 1: Set up the Claude Project

Name it after the store. Upload everything you have, from sitemap, top-performing URLs, Google Search Console exports, GA4 reports, product page copy samples, to existing keyword data.

The more context Claude has upfront, the sharper its analysis will be. Think of it as briefing a new SEO hire on day one.

Step 2: Audit the site structure

Prompt Claude to identify gaps in internal linking, missing category pages, thin content on collection pages, and URL structures that don't match how customers actually search.

Shopify stores are notorious for bloated, auto-generated URLs and orphaned pages. Claude will surface them fast.

Step 3: Run a keyword gap analysis

Feed it your current ranking keywords AND your competitor's top pages. Ask Claude to surface keywords you should own but don't, especially high-intent, bottom-of-funnel terms.

These are the keywords where someone is ready to buy. If you're not ranking here, you're losing revenue every single day.

Step 4: Score your top pages

Paste in your top 10 product and collection pages. Ask Claude to evaluate them for on-page SEO: title tags, meta descriptions, H1 usage, keyword density, and whether the copy actually answers buyer intent.

Most Shopify product pages are written to sound good, not to rank. Claude will tell you the difference.

Step 5: Build a 90-day content plan

Ask Claude to create a content plan around the gaps it found. Always prioritize BOFU content first. These are the pages closest to a purchase decision.

Blog posts are great, but if your collection pages are thin and your product pages don't convert, start there.

Step 6: Find your quick wins

Pull GSC data for pages sitting in positions 5 to 20. These are pages Google already thinks are relevant. They just need a little nudge.

Ask Claude to recommend specific edits, such as better title tags, FAQ additions, updated headers, and stronger internal links.

This is where you can move the needle in 30 to 60 days without creating new content from scratch.

Step 7: Track progress inside the same Project

As you make updates, come back to the same Claude Project. Paste in new data. Ask what's moved and what still needs attention.

The Project memory keeps everything in context so you're not starting over every session. Over time, it becomes your store's running SEO log.

Bonus: Some prompts you can use:

  • "Based on this sitemap and GSC data, what are the top 5 structural SEO issues on this store?"

  • "Here are my top 10 collection pages. Score each one for on-page SEO and flag what's missing."

  • "Given these keyword gaps and competitor pages, build me a 90-day BOFU content plan."

  • "Which pages in positions 5 to 20 have the highest click potential if I improve the title tag?"

Save these. They'll save you hours.

The goal is to get a clear picture fast.

It’s not just to save time, though it does that, too.

Because the reality is, most ecommerce stores have SEO problems.

Thin collection pages. No internal linking strategy. Product pages that don't match search intent. Keywords they should rank for but don't.

They just don't know it yet.

Claude won't replace an experienced SEO, but it'll help you find the problems and build a plan in a fraction of the time it used to take.

Now that’s the real win.

Cheers,

Connor
